FAQs
FOR FACILITATORS:
Will I be compensated for my time?
After completing the Train the Trainer, participants will be listed as a certified CHEP+ facilitator and deliver 2-3 sessions and will be provided with a modest honorarium for their time. This includes access to the annual CHEP+ Conference, accredited online programs at CHEP+ @Home Learning Series, and additional honorarium.
Who will find participants?
CHEP+ along with our program partners will be inviting primary care health professionals from across Canada. If there are local individuals or community health teams you have access to that would be interested in our program, we welcome you to reach out to them as well.
How will I set up the sessions on Teams?
All facilitators will be trained on how to manage their own educational sessions using Teams. Registrations will be handled through the CHEP+ project team.
What if I am asked a question I can't answer?
If you are asked questions that you can't answer, it must mean that this is a challenging issue that many clinicians need support with, and a very good question. We would like you to share it with us, and we will ask our faculty trainers/ expert specialists to provide that answer to you and the members of your program.

Session timing. How will this be organized?
The logistics of organizing the sessions will be handled through the CHEP+ project team; our goal is to not burden facilitators with unnecessary administrative and logistical tasks

FOR PARTICIPANTS:
How will I register for sessions?
Registrations will happen on our website; you will be able to select your date and time for your virtual workshop.
Are sessions accredited?
Yes, sessions will be Mainpro+ accredited for the 1 hour program.

Will sessions be in French as well?
The program will be offered in French as well.
How do I access the follow up CPD program?
Participants will receive follow up emails with links to Learning Series@Home. Also links reminding you to complete the practice reflection forms; there will also be links on the Teams page.
Why do I need to complete post sessions feedback?
This is an important component of continuing professional development. Also, your evaluation and feedback assists CHEP+ in learning about how your educational session has had an impact on your clinical practice and patients and your intentions to screen for diabetic nephropathy going forward.
How long will the session be?
The video part of the session will be less than 45 minutes long, with additional time for Q+A up to 1 hour, and the potential for further online Q&A beyond that.
What is the format of the session?
The sessions are held virtually, on Teams. Sessions are designed to be educationally informed, interactive, with new information provided and practice pearls to take away.
What if I have a question for any of the speakers in the video?
Questions can be posted in the Q+A / chat during the session or posed during the live session. Questions after can be posted on the Teams group and will be monitored and answered by one of the faculty members.
Can I become a facilitator?
Yes, we always welcome new facilitators. All facilitators must complete the Train the Trainer program. Just reach out to us at Diane@chepplus.com.
What is the involvement of the pharmaceutical industry?
All content from the program is developed by CHEP+, and the Steering Committee to support the Diabetes Canada updated chapter on chronic kidney disease. Industry is not involved in the guideline development or the development of our CPD program. Industry support has been provided to enable the dissemination of the program, this has been provided in the form of unrestricted educational grants. As a physician-based organization, CHEP+ also adheres to the continuing and professional education standards as outlined by the National Standard for Support of Accredited CPD Activities.
What is the purpose of this session?
The purpose of the session is to disseminate the new clinical practice guideline that has been published May 2025 in the Diabetes Canada updated chapter on chronic kidney disease. This program is to make you aware of the new information. Once you have completed the program, we will invite you to participate in the Learning Series@Home CPD practice workshop to help you move from 'aware' to 'action' so that you can begin to screen for diabetic nephropathy on your next clinic day.
What is a 'Guardian of the Glomeruli'?
This is a term that has been applied to the 10,000 primary health care providers participating in the Diabetic Nephropathy Prevention Program. The concept is that screening for diabetic nephropathy early, will identify patients at risk and provide those patients interested and able to follow guideline directed medical therapy, a pathway that should allow them to remain dialysis-free for their lifetime.
